GARDEN GROVE, CA – Yesterday on CNN tonight with Jake Tapper, Tapper blasted the National Republican Campaign Committee for disseminating “perhaps the most dishonest TV campaign ad we have ever seen” against Lieutenant Commander Jay Chen (res).
While Lt. Commander Chen continues to campaign on issues like strengthening American manufacturing, protecting reproductive choice, and passing common sense gun safety legislation, Michelle Steel and her allies have been making increasingly craven attempts to paint Lieutenant Commander Jay Chen as an agent for Communist China.
Jay Chen is an intelligence officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve and holds a Top Secret security clearance. Chen serves with US Navy 7th Fleet which is tasked with confronting the aggression and overreach of China in the South China Sea. Lt Commander Chen is also the son of immigrants from Taiwan, and his grandmother fled China to escape communism.
In a segment highlighting political lies, Jake Tapper discusses a clip of Jay Chen disavowing dishonest efforts to tie him to Communist China. The punchline is that the same clip has now been blatantly edited by the NRCC in an advertisement to manipulate voters into believing the opposite.
