GARDEN GROVE, CA – Today, Lt. Commander Jay Chen (res), candidate for Congress in California’s 45th district, announced the release of a new TV ad in his campaign to unseat extremist Michelle Steel. “Trust” calls out Michelle Steel for her crusade against the fundamental right to access abortion, and the damage her extremist agenda will cause in Orange County and across the country.
The ad highlights Michelle Steel’s long history of working to dismantle abortion rights. Steel co-led an amicus brief to the Supreme Court encouraging it to dismantle Roe v. Wade. Most recently she co-sponsored the Life At Conception Act, which would enact an unpopular and dangerous federal abortion ban – without exceptions for rape or incest. She has even doubled down on this agenda in recent interviews. Her views are far too extreme for Orange County families.
“Michelle Steel knows that her politics are dangerous for everyday people,” said Lt. Commander Jay Chen. “National Republicans are targeting our fundamental rights and Congresswoman Steel will be a rubber stamp on a national abortion ban that would rip away Californians’ rights. Her views make her an outlier even in deep red Kansas, let alone California. Orange County residents deserve a representative who will protect their freedoms, not destroy them.”
